Cinque Terre has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997 and is one of the most sought-after destinations for travelers worldwide. With its unique charm, choosing Cinque Terre for your honeymoon lets you soak in that famously Italian atmosphere with stunning colors, delicious scents, fresh flavors, and the gentle sounds of nature. Cars aren’t allowed in the villages, so you can say goodbye to city stress, and enjoy only the sound of waves and, in the summer, the soothing hum of cicadas.
MONTEROSSO
If you’re beach lovers like us, then Monterosso is the village for you! It’s the largest of the five and offers a gorgeous sandy beach with crystal-clear water. You’ve probably seen videos and photos on social media — trust us, it really is that beautiful! The train station opens directly onto the waterfront in the newer part of town, and a short coastal walk toward Vernazza will take you to the charming old town in about five minutes.
VERNAZZA
In Vernazza, you’ll find a perfect balance of stunning coastal views, a small harbor with colorful fishing boats, classic painted houses, winding alleys, and a little sandy beach. Our tip? Get lost in Vernazza’s ancient streets — every corner is a little gem just waiting to be discovered! The train station is conveniently located in the town center and easy to reach.
CORNIGLIA
For hiking and incredible views, Corniglia is perfect. It’s the highest of the five villages, set on a hilltop, so there’s no direct sea access. To reach Corniglia from the train station, you’ll need to climb 377 steps, but the view at the top is worth every one! In high season, there’s a shuttle bus that will take you from the station to the town center in about five minutes, perfect if you’re carrying luggage.
MANAROLA
We recommend Manarola for couples looking to enjoy a panoramic view of colorful houses without too much effort. Simply follow the coastline to Punta Bonfiglio for a breathtaking vista. Manarola doesn’t have a beach, but you can swim directly from the rocks, and the more adventurous can even enjoy some cliff jumping! The train station is just a few minutes from town, with a short tunnel that leads to Bar Aristide, a perfect spot for breakfast.
RIOMAGGIORE
Riomaggiore is known for having the best sunsets. Its location gives it sweeping views along the coastline. To take in the entire village, climb out on the rocks along the breakwater for the perfect view. Be aware that Riomaggiore has a lot of steps, so choose your accommodation carefully, as you’ll need to reach it on foot. Here, you can also stroll along the famous Via dell’Amore! The train station is only minutes from town, and, like in Manarola, there’s a tunnel, or you can take a scenic route over the station for a longer walk.
